You Don’t Mess with the Zohan is a comedy movie where Adam Sandler as Zohan has given a very entertaining performance. He is an all rounder with swift swimming skills detecting many terrorists by his own skills and at the same time he can woo women with his great charms. He is most admired in the Israel army but he has some other dreams to attach importance to and even wants to fulfill them. He wishes to become successful in the field of hairstyling and so gets rid off the army tricking an own death story.

So he comes to New York City with a renovated self to get his wished fulfilled but strangely finds himself within some odd situations which he cannot avoid. The movie is directed by Dennis Dugan and written by Robert Smigel, Judd Apatow and Adam Sandler himself. The movie is trying to merge cross culture troubles with humor. Here absurdity is tried to be combined with lampoon. The movie has computerized special effects and packed up storyline where the quips were carried out rather clumsily. But you will end up laughing at those jokes only.

The title of the movie itself tries to poke humor. Zohan does not have any experience so is not getting any chance at any good salon. But Dalia by Emmanuelle Chriqui gave him the opportunity and he is liked by many. A romantic liaison was going to be developed between Zohan and Dalia but could not become successful. Then since life is never lack of troubles Zohan gets recognized by Palestinian Salim played to perfection by Rob Schneider in the role of a cabbie of New York City. The movie is definitely not a very best comedy movie but can be watched without any foregone conclusion.

Ever thought of what would happen to Planet Earth when you threw away that cold drink can on the road? Or when you forgot to recycle the newspaper and threw it away?  Well, a few years from now (700 years to be exact), the earth is going to be enveloped in a trash so large that it would become uninhabitable. This in one line is the concept of WALL-E.

The film has been brought to you by Disney and Pixar Animation Studios and it reached a 96% positive review on Rotten Tomatoes.  In recent years, a lot of films have been made on environmental issues such as Global Warming. Happy Feet was one of them.  WALL-E is a futuristic animation film that takes you far into space.

WALL-E has been directed by Andrew Stanton who had also directed Finding Nemo. The story traces the story of a multinational corporation called Buy and Large which seduces the human beings of the world to engage in mindless consumerism. This leads to a lot of un-recycled waste and the earth is deemed uninhabitable.  Luxury starliners are used to keep human beings on space for five years so that a class of waste purification robots called WALL-E (Waste Allocation Load Lifter Earth-Class) can remove the waste from the earth.

But the project flops and earth is considered uninhabitable. The WALL-E robots are laid waste on earth but one survives. He develops a nose for curiosity and adventure. This curiosity and his love for EVE (Extraterrestrial Allocation Vegetation) - a robot who was sent to see if any vegetation has survived on earth takes him to space.

There are no human voices in the film. The Director gave robotic sounds for the robots’ communication. These sounds have been designed by Ben Burtt. The film released on June 27, 2008 in the US.

Traitor is a video game concept. It deals with such a character who was once a good friend or colleague but now has joined forces with the “powers of evil” in an effort to unleash havoc on mankind. The concept of a traitor gives a video game a unique turn. Essential human values such as trust, friendship and morals are betrayed. Thus in a video game, the concept of a traitor gives it the additional element of human involvement that it otherwise lacks.

In 2008, came a spy thriller film called Traitor. The idea of the film was by Steve Martin and directed by Jeffrey Nachmanoff. The story of the film deals with an officer’s unending battle to find Samir Horn, a Sudanese American who is in league with Omar, an arms dealer. The film did an average business in the US. But if you are interested about the game, let me tell you that the traitor game series consists of two parts.

The first part is the Traitors Gate. This is a unique series. Here the player steals valuable and famous jewels from around the world. The platform of this game is by MAC, PC and it has been developed by Daydream Software.

The second part of the game is called Traitors Gate 2: Cypher. This also consists of a theft simulator. Developer of this game is 258 Productions AB. The platform is of PC. Both these games are of the genre of adventure and deal with espionage. There are recurring appearances in Babylon and the United Kingdom, in London, England.

The other concepts with which these two games deal with are Gadgets, Theft, Third person perspective, Voice acting and Currency. The objects which have been used in these games are Grapple, Laser, Pocket watch and Gold.

The Traitors series promises to be a treat for hard core video gamers.

The Dark Knight was the sequel to the 2005 film Batman Begins. This film was co-written and directed by Christopher Nolan who had directed the first film also. This is a superhero film where the hero saves the city once again in the face of terrors like the Joker, Sal Maroni and Chechen. The Dark Knight saves Gotham city once again in the face of adverse terror. So what’s new in this superhero movie? Undoubtedly superb special effects, the plot line and the acting talents of Christian Bale and the late Heath Ledger.

The plot unfolds with Gotham city once again in the ravages of terror unfolded by the looting of the mob bank by the Joker. Together with Lieutenant James Gordon and District Attorney Harvey Dent, Batman aka Bruce Wayne sets out to capture the Joker and remove crime from the city. In the process, he encounters the mob. Dent becomes mad when his girlfriend and Bruce’s childhood friend, Rachel is murdered.

He decides to punish the corrupted police officials. He begins to turn violent. He decides the fate of Gordon’s son, himself and Batman by coin tosses.He becomes the Two-Face. He shoots Batman. They both fall. Dent dies. The Dark Knight asks Gordon to charge Batman responsible for the crimes committed by Dent otherwise the morale of the city would suffer. A warrant for Batman is issued.

Christian Bale had trained himself in the Keysi fighting method for this role. But mention must be made of the late Heath Ledger. This was Ledger’s last film. Ledger shut himself up in a room for one month to study the role of the Joker. He even directed the videos the Joker sent as warnings. Nolan did not edit the scenes acted in by Ledger because he wanted to keep the authenticity of the role. The Dark Knight promises to be a treat to viewers.

“Taken” is a 2008 film that stars Liam Neeson of Schindler’s List fame. Schindler’s List was directed by Steven Spielberg. Naturally when such a critically acclaimed actor stars in a Hollywood movie, expectations become high. But Taken does not live up to expectations. The film deals with the journey of an ex cop who travels to France to save his daughter from the hands of sex traffickers.

The film deals with the run of the mill action drama that we have so been accustomed to for years. The film has a series of action sequences shot in various scenes of Paris that can ask for some credit.

Bryan is divorced from his wife. His daughter Kim lives with his wife and step father. On a holiday, when Kim asks for permission to go for a Europe tour, Kim’s mother concedes. But she asks Kim to take permission from her father as well. As Kim is scared that Bryan won’t give permission, she tells him that she would be going to Paris only.

In Paris, Kim and her friend Amanda are befriended by a seemingly good looking man who comes with them to their house. But as soon as he gets out, we come to know, that he works for the Mafia. He gives their address to his bosses.

Kim is on the phone with her father when unknown men come and kidnap her and Amanda. Kim gives the descriptions of the men to her father through the phone. Through high connections in the office as well as some help from Kim’s stepfather’s office, Bryan is able to get information about the Mafia. He goes to Paris and after a series of adventures is able to save Kim. But Amanda dies.

The story of Taken is based on a stereotypical Hollywood way of looking at things. Taken has been directed by Pierre Morel.

The movie MAX Payne has got some greatest style filled action scenes but the specious story line and excess direction makes it a sheer waste of time. Here the ostensible cop Mark Wahlberg is still fighting with the inner turmoil of loosing the family of wife and child is investigating number of murders. Mila Kunis is the costar who is a hired gun frantically seeking for revenge for her own purposes. In this standard movie of settling of scores there is some bizarre entwine. The root story of the video game is hidden well.

Mark Wahlberg is in search of the executioner of his pregnant wife three years back. While he is on the search he is faced with the trouble of some drug that is mercilessly killing people consuming it. Max encounter some apparition involved in this activity and the turn of events associate him towards the death of eye-catching strumpet from Russia. He feels that the whole event has some connections with the murder of his wife. As he is being decided on his previous partner by Donal Logue gets killed while providing clues. Mila Kunis is totally miscast here though she is looking good.

There are several other artists trying to help in solving the mystery. Everything seemed to be quite predictable. But John Moore does place some good fight scenes. The movie is not a great reworked copy of the Max Payne videogame and the acting can be watched though not highly commendable and the everlasting grimace on the actor’s face is weird. But the movie could have been made at least somewhat interesting as the video game is. The translation has several weak points with very little exclusion. The movie has been directed by John Moore and Beau Thorne has done the screenplay.

Mamma Mia! is a 2008 musical that was directed by Phyllida Lloyd. The film was based on a book which was written by Catherine Johnson. She has also written the screenplay for the film. This film has averaged higher than Titanic and has broken the records held by the blockbuster for over a decade now in the UK.

While Titanic averaged £69,025,646, Mamma Mia! grossed £69,068,073. The movie has also received two Golden Globe Nominations for the Best Picture (Musical/Comedy) and Best Actress for Meryl Streep. Mamma Mia! was released in the US on July 2008. This movie has provided a fantastic plot for a lot of ABBA songs which were used in the serene background of the Greek island Kalokairi.

The story deals with the plot of an estranged daughter trying to meet her father. Sophia is about to get married. She wants to be “given away” by her father. But she has never seen him. She lives with her mother (Meryl Streep). She finds a diary in her mother’s room which talks of three of her potential fathers. She invites them to her wedding secretly.

The three men are played by Pierce Brosnan, Colin Firth and Stellan Skarsgård. The three men are kept hidden in a goat house until Donna, Sophia’s mother finds out about them and asks them to live. They then start living in Ben’s (Stellan Skarsgård) boat. Mamma Mia! has a string  of ABBA songs being beautifully reproduced, out of which the best performed are the title track and Gimme Gimme Gimme. S.O.S is a song that is performed when Meryl Streep and Pierce Brosnan have a fight.

The story ends with Pierce proposing to Meryl and their marriage. Sophie gets married and sails away to honeymoon with her husband. The film is a definite watch out if you are a Meryl Streep or Brosnan fan and love watching musicals.

Kung Fu Panda was a film that was released in 2008. It was directed by Mark Osborne and John Stevenson and had the voices of the likes of Angelina Jolie. Now inspired by the success of the film, DreamWorks Animation and ActiVision have brought forward a game of the movie. This game also promises to be a head turner as the movie was. As in other video games, in this game also, Po the Panda fights forth deadly enemies to save his village, the Valley of Peace from destruction.

The difference is that instead of high skilled weaponry, Po uses his skills of martial arts to battle his adversary Tai Lung. Po travels through uninhabitable environments and dangerous minions in his quest to become the Dragon Warrior. The game Kung Fu Panda has 13 different levels. To fulfill his fate as the Dragon Warrior, Po travels through inhospitable surroundings and risks his life to battle forces like the Great Gorilla and Tai Lung.

The player gets to take a closer look at the adorable character Po, who became a hero with the release of the film. Po is a connoisseur of food. We come to see and appreciate this characteristic of Po in the game. The player also gets to brush up his Kung Fu skills along with Po, the Furious Five and Shifu.

Jade Palace, Training Dojo and the Wudang mountains appear in all their majesty. The player also comes face to face with the unforgiving training grounds of Tai Lung. These are all movie inspired locations and were included in to the game as well. Kung Fu Panda, the game offers a whole lot of options, one of them being the Multiplayer facility.  The players can play with their friends or against them. So rush in to your nearest stores and buy a pack of Kung Fu Panda now!

Hellboy II: The Golden Army is a sequel to the 2004 film, Hellboy. This film was released in 2008. The story of this film is based on Hellboy, who is a fictional character based on the Dark Horse Comics. This film is a fantasy and deals with typical super hero adventure. The director of this film is Guillermo del Toro.

Toro also directed the 2004 film and also acted in it. The legendary character of Hellboy has been played by Ron Perlman, yet once again. This film released in the US and Canada on July 11, 2008. It averaged well at the box office.

This time the story deals with the fight of the human kingdom against the evil forces of Prince Nuada, who is looking forth to unite the Golden Army through which he will be able to win over the humans. He declares war on mankind. Hellboy is in charge of a secret service called the Bureau for Paranormal Research and Defense. This bureau is to be kept hidden from the eyes of humans.

But Hellboy is fighting against the very forces of hell that have given birth to him. Therefore, a time comes in the film when he questions the authenticity of his fight for human beings even though he should be on the other team. Hellboy has relationship issues with his girlfriend. How he seeks to resolve the triangular plots of love, morals and despair and at the same time battle the forces of darkness is the theme of the story.

Hellboy II: The Golden Army sees quite a few good acting schemes. Ron Perlman is brilliant in his role. Selma Blair plays his girlfriend. The action sequences of Hellboy II: The Golden Army is fantastic. The supernatural unfolds itself in its own queer way. The film Hellboy II: The Golden Army promises to be a treat to cinebuffs.

The “Get Smart” released during 2008 is filmed on the television spy series created by Buck Henry and Mel Brooks. The film stars Anne Hathaway and Steve Carell. Overall a good movie with humorous moments and filled with enjoyment. Director Peter Segal has worked meticulously to steer the actors to give their good performance. Director has made the movie to satisfy both the audience who has seen the TV series and also for them who have not seen the series. He knew how to make the clumsy situations go in the right track.

Tom J. Astle and Matt Ember’s screenplay has also done a good job to bring the flavor of the much liked TV series back. Even Buck Henry and Mel Brooks liked the work done here. Maxwell Smart and company have got a new view in this movie. Steve Carell has played a likeable part of Max who is an agent of CONTROL, a spy organization. Max is willing to become most sought after agent of by his own effort. He gets the golden opportunity when the agency is under the threat by attackers and he is to work in cooperation with Anne Hathaway a proficient associate under the orders of the chief Alan Arkin.

Max tries his best to put a stop to the ghastly arrangements of KAOS. These plans are being piloted by Siegfried played by Terence Stamp along with his right-hand follower Shtarker played by Ken Davitian. The only problems with the movies are that the movie was on a rush and more or les plain. Though the physical witticism had good visual appeal but the lack of solidity is recognizable as the different kinds of events are tried to be merged to give the fullest entertainment effect. The action comedy can be enjoyed surely.
